Children's Ministry (1st-5th grade)

First Baptist Natchitoches is a great place to be a kid! Our Children ministry plans activities and events that are designed to encourage boys and girls to build a solid spiritual foundation for their lives—Sunday morning Bible study, Wednesday night SLAM, Vacation Bible School, ministry projects, music, Upward and tons of fun! We want them to know that God loves them, that He has an exciting plan for their lives and that He wants to know each of them through a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord! We would like to encourage our every family with young children to make family devotions a priority for 2012. The church is here to assist you and pray for you and your family! May the Lord bless your family with a wonderful 2012!

Join our Children (1st-5th graders) on Wednesday evenings from 5:30-7:00 in "The Zone", which is located upstairs above our nursery area.  S.L.A.M. stands for Serving God, Loving Others, And Making a Joyful Noise.  Each week in S.L.A.M. the children will participate in 45 minutes of music and 45 minutes of Bible Study. During our Bible study time, we memorize scriptures, which are said on a weekly basis.

Here are a few things that might help you understand the Bible verse reward system:

    • The Bible study portion of S.L.A.M. is broken up into units and there are 6 weeks in each unit.  During those 6 weeks, we will encourage your child to learn 4 Bible verses.  The 6th week is S.L.A.M. Dunk.  During S.L.A.M. Dunk we will play games in the gym and give out rewards to the children who have learned all 4 Bible verses.
    • Each week your child will be given a Bible verse to learn for the following week.
    • If your child is absent during one of the Wednesdays in a unit, he/she may have an opportunity to say the missed verse and the current verse at the same time when he/she returns.
    • If your child just simply does not know the verse on a Wednesday, he/she will not be given another chance to say the missed verse.  This makes it fair for the children who take the time to learn the verse each week.
    • At the end of the unit, the children who have said all 4 verses will receive a reward for their hard work.

We look forward to seeing your children on January 11, 2012, when S.L.A.M. returns for the spring.

"Game On...Living a Transformed Life!"

We will be attending CentriKid at Millsaps College in Jackson, MS, during the week of July 9th-July 13th. CentriKid is a five day, four night camp for children who have completed 3rd-5th grade. This is an amazing experience for them to learn more about the message of Jesus Christ! They will be able to participate in activities from sports, to science, to cooking, to dancing, something for every child in attendance. The children will also participate in Bible study, recreation, tract times, and worship. This year's theme is "Game On...Living a Transformed Life!" We will be studying God's work in teh life of the Old Testament hero, Daniel, and learn what it means to live out our faith as God works through us.

The $50.00 non-refundable deposit is due by Sunday, February 12. For more information, please contact Mrs. Shannon Dark at ssdark1@hotmail.com or at the church office at 352-3737.
